Julian, California is a small town located west of the Pacific Crest Trail at mile 77.

Access from the trail

The PCT crosses California Highway 78 at mile 77, known as 'Scissors Crossing'. The town of Julian is located 12 miles to the west of this point and is usually a relatively easy hitch.

Facilities

Julian is a small town that mainly caters to tourists. As a result, there is not a whole lot of interest to hikers but it is still possible to do a fairly decent resupply here. There are also a few quirky shops and places to stay.

There is conflicting information as to whether there is still a Post Office in Julian. As of October 2019, USPS no longer lists it on their website, although this conflicts with other information online. Verify for yourself before attempting to send a package to the Post Office!

Food and drink

Thru-hikers will likely be interested in paying a visit to 'Mom's Pies', where they can obtain a free serving of pie, ice cream and a drink on production of a valid PCT permit.

Groceries

Julian Market carries all the usual hiker foods and is very welcoming to PCT hikers.
