Lone Pine, California, is a popular resupply location along the Pacific Crest Trail in the Sierra Nevada section of the trail.
The town, along with the Alabama Hills (a unique popular location for filming movies and TV shows), both sit in the shadow of Mt. Whitney, with the World War 2 concentration camp, Manzanar, only several miles away.
Being a one-street town, Lone Pine is highly walkable, though a less popular trail town compared to Bishop, California, due to fewer hiker services being available and most hikers being able to hike uninterrupted from Kennedy Meadows, California to more northerly passes (e.g. Kearsarge Pass) and trailheads that provide access to both Bishop and Independence, California

Access from the Trail
For northbound hikers out of Kennedy Meadows (South), Lone Pine is more often than not a trail town for those who need to leave the trail due to injury, personal reasons, or weather, rather than resupply.
Hikers seeking the most direct permitted route to Lone Pine can leave the PCT to reach Horseshoe Meadow Campground using Trail Pass, Cottonwood Pass Trail, or Mulkey Pass. However, due to the high elevation and winter snowfall, early-season hikers are likely to have a several-mile road walk and difficulties obtaining a hitch into Lone Pine.
PCT Hikers are not permitted to exit going east of Mt. Whitney or exit to Whitney Portal using either the Mt. Whitney Trail or Mountaineer's Route.
