Northern Terminus Monument (Pacific Crest Trail)

The Southern Terminus monument is located on the border of Washington and British Columbia, Canada approximately 8 miles south of Manning Park Resort and British Columbia Highway 3. It marks the northernmost point of the Pacific Crest Trail.

The current monument was installed in July 2018.

Starting or ending a hike

The Northern Terminus monument is typically where NOBO hikers end a thru-hike. From the monument, hikers can continue north for a further 8 miles to Manning Park Resort, where there is accommodation, food, a small store and other facilities. Doing so requires hikers to have the proper visas and documentation to enter Canada, including a passport and an approved Canadian Entry Permit.

It is illegal to enter the USA from Canada via the Pacific Crest Trail. For this reason, SOBO hikers typically start a thru-hike by hiking north for 30 miles from Hart's Pass, Washington to the monument. They then turn around and begin hiking south towards Mexico.
